Blog week ending 24th November
The students had a thought provoking and hopefully inspirational trip to the Tate Modern. They discussed art and concepts and searched for work to inspire the next part of their personal investigations. They selected artworks to put into a “playlist” for each other. They all also enjoyed the 3 seater swings which are part of the art in the turbine hall by the Danish collective SUPERFLEX. So did Ms Hellen and Mrs Bonner neither of whom have been on a swing for years!
The PFA sponsored a wonderful Bookbuzz event where our year 7s were presented with a reading book of their choice. Our librarian, Mrs Black decorated the hall with an Alice in Wonderland tea party theme and the PFA provided drinks and biscuits. Thank you to the PFA for their generous donation and continued support of the ‘reading for pleasure’ scheme.
Our WG6 were visited by BAE Systems STEM Ambassador, Mr Rolf, who gave a talk outlining his role within BAE, his route into the organiasation and its associated career opportuinities. Mr Rolf works within the cyber security and intelligence sector, offering bespoke solutions to third party clients. Mr Rolf coached students during practice interviews giving them valuable experience and guidance.
Each form created a Christmas Hamper to be offered as special prizes in the tombolla at our Christmas Gift Market this Sunday (26th November). The designs were highly inventive and beautifully presented. I shall be buying some tombolla tickets!
7A created a very special ‘Diversity Hamper’ (right) celebrating different cultures and foods from around the world. Each element is individually wrapped and marked with the flag of the country it represents.
The form pictured below created the wonderful Christmas tree hamper (above left)
The PFA would like to thank parents and carers for their continued support. The recent Y7 & 8 Disco raised £1,200! We hope to see you at our Christmas Gift Market on Sunday. And for more Christmas Fair fun, do come along to the Boy’s school on Saturday 2nd December!
