Governors

DianeA message from Diane Connell, Chair of Local Governing Body:

I feel privileged to lead the dedicated team of Governors in this excellent School. We come from a variety of backgrounds with many skills, and work together for the benefit of the whole School Community.

Our prime areas of focus are the success of the students and their welfare. The pastoral care is outstanding, and everyone at WGSG is involved in making it a safe and enjoyable place to be.

Maintaining the good relationship between the Local Governing Body and the Head Teacher and her Senior Leadership Team is crucial to the effective administration of the School. The Local Governing Body has a duty to oversee the direction and policies of the School, to monitor its standards and be held to report to the Trust Board on its conduct and performance. The Head Teacher has responsibility for the day-to-day management of the School.

If you are interested in becoming a Governor, I hope this information may help or encourage you. Training courses are provided by Kent County Council Children, Families & Education Advisory Service.

Further information can be obtained by contacting the Clerk to the Governors via the school office.

Mrs Lawson is determined that Wilmington Grammar School for Girls continues to meet the demands of an ever-changing world, by equipping its students with the resilience and determination to overcome the obstacles that life can throw, whilst supporting them to grow as intellectually independent thinkers capable of coping within an increasing stressful world.
