Department Vision
Academic excellence
- To promote intellectual excellence, the department aims to maintain high academic standards for all Psychology A Level students.
- Maintain and develop a purposeful and positive teaching environment with dedicated teaching and tracking of students.
- To encourage opportunities to complete investigative psychology work, with the promotion of the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ).
Community
- To promote connections within the department and the greater community, the department encourage collaboration across WGSB and WGSG both with staff and students.
- Promote a collegial environment in which ideas are shared freely.
- To promote students-to-student roles in the department such as Psychology Ambassador, who serve the deportment at open evenings, subject fairs etc.
Diversity
- To promote diversity of viewpoints and experiences. The department treats all individuals with dignity and respect.
- To recognise the importance of both individual and group characteristics (i.e. those that make us unique and those that make us similar).
- Maintain a supportive and collaborative learning environment designed to enhance one another's personal and professional development.
- To encourage open-mindedness in students in order to prepare them for adult life and the world of work.
Integrity
- To maintain and promote the respectability of Psychology; teaching in detail ethical principles of the professional organisation. This includes the protection and the welfare of participants involved in academic research (those with whom we serve and avoid doing harm)
