The Kent Trampolining Championships.  A fantastic day was had by all that attended the Trampolining competition last week. Our students performed to the best of their ability and did the school proud.

The results have now been finalised and we can reveal the following students will be going to the Final on Sunday 26th March at the Jumpers Rebound Centre in Gillingham!

Annie of 11B - Individual finalist

Lily Barham of 11B - Individual and Team Finalist

Zoe of 11O - Team Finalist

Coral of 11O - Team Finalist

Isobella of 8A - Individual finalist

A massive well done to Zoe of 9A who placed 11th out of 23, as well as Eloise of 9C and Ellie of 9C who also performed fantastically at the competition.

A big thank-you to Annie of 11B and Charlotte of 11B who were judges at the competition as without them and the other judges, the competition wouldn’t be possible.

The Year 9 Netball team travelled to Mayfield Grammar to showcase their netball skills. They took part in a mini tournament playing against a total of 3 teams. They faced Mayfield Grammar’s Year 10 team and lost but at a respectable score of 3-1. At half time they were 2-0 down and they really did come back fighting. The next game was against St George’s, where the girls did well to hold their own, drawing 1-1. The final game was against Mayfield’s Year 9 team and they drew 2-2. A big well done to everyone and particularly Player of the Tournament Marni of 9A

Our students gave outstanding performances at the Orchard Theatre on Sunday for the Dartford Young Gifted Showcase event.  It was a packed house with an audience of over 1,000.   All were natural and accomplished performers, well done! (Unfortunately, Ellie’s school was wrongly printed in the programme)

Science Club is going Harry Potter crazy after half term. The Harry Potter themed science club is on Monday 20th Feb and available to all year 7 and 8 muggles. There is however limited availability places are on a ‘first come, first served’ basis. Students will discover which house they are in by using flame tests – brightly coloured flames will be created by heating a variety of elements/compounds in a naked flame. There will also be a chance to create invisible ink and then crack the code!  Don’t miss out on the exploding methane bubbles demo. It is going to a fun jam-packed Harry Potter themed lunchtime in F9 from 1.15pm!

Year 8 were terrific performing their tales to celebrate national storytelling week. We had Anansi, Irish and traditional story performances as well as a few made-up contemporary tales. Winners will be announced in due course and prizes awarded. We would like to thank all of Year 8 for being so enthusiastic in the preparatory workshops.

We are collecting Sainsbury’s Activ Kids vouchers!  We are hosting a KS3 competition to see which form can collect the most vouchers.  The winning form can choose a PE lesson of their choice!  The scheme closes on the 2nd May.  Please can all vouchers be handed to form tutors.

Ruby of 10H and Jess of 12E recently took part in the prestigious ISTD Blackpool Grand Finals in the historic Blackpool Tower Ballroom.  They competed in the Ballroom and Latin categories and were placed in the top 15% in the semi-finals – Congratulations!  Strictly Come Dancing, eat your heart out! (pictured, Ruby in the first two photos and Jess in the third)
